R 13 fiberglass batts in the walls, blown in cellulose at R25 in the ceiling, garage doors adjusted to seal nice, air leak sealed with expanding foam. Heater install was in a previous post

And just in time, I might add!

I’m jealous! It doesn’t get bitter cold here very often but even temps in the 20s and 30s will keep me out of the garage these days. I’ve gotten soft in my old age.

I’d love a comfy winter garage, but for me to have workspace, I’d then have to park one of the vehicles outside. I prefer the warm snow free vehicle over the warm workspace.

Well, I did until I typed that out.

Mine’s a basic three car car-hole, to do any meaningful work I’ll have to roll one car out, but it’s ok, all the cars are gonna be OK being outside for a day or two.  Even the MR2 has the “cold weather” package, as laughable as that is (HD defroster, metal screening on the cowl and HD windshield wiper)

Snow. I can’t wait. It going to be in the 80's at the end of this week with high humidity. Again. My wife won’t let me take a job in Antarctica (I happen to like the cold)

Nice! As someone with a recently insulated garage I can say how great it is to have the heat stay inside a building.

Yeah I wasn’t going to do one without the other, I could actually see gaps between the garage and attic through the drywall (not taped and mudded, unfortunately)

I need to pop up and see if the attic is insulated. I definitely need to do the doors, and I have a north facing unfinished wall that I would like to finish. I may not install a heater out there, but even insulating it fully would make a decent difference, especially since we generally stay pretty mild,  temperature wise, during the winter.

Go nna need a picture of the finished project !

I just asked my wife if we could do the same and she said “What? So the mice can live in it?”

Her loss. My car has heated seats and hers doesn’t >_>

LOL. Not much to look at, sheetrock and epoxy floor are next year’s problems, just batting in the studs for this year.

Here’s a super messy pic of my garage. Insulating the walls required moving everything on the walls and in the loft, so that was fun. Also I am an extremely messy person

Just helped a friend out with insulating and heating his garage, in exchange for using it when I’d like (within reason).

We did the same as you pretty much, except we ran a new heat register into the ceiling from his home heating system. Now it stays at 68, just like his house and he’ll get A/C in summer. Score!

That’s a good system, but might not be to code if he ever sells. Good arrangement though.

My dad did the same and just plugged and walled over the register when he moved

I remember asking him if there was an issue with it.

He just shrugged and said “dry wall is cheap”

Nice. I wish my garage was heated and insulated. Or had electricity. Or had room to put a car in it.
